Chopper Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Frequented California Shoreline
An aircraft soaring near a crowded coastal beach suddenly began spiraling out of control, eventually descending rapidly and plunging into a line of palm fronds as spectators watched.
Videos posted on social media show the chopper starting to spin above the beach then descending in the direction of the edge of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palm groves and a steps near the coastal road.
Rescue Operation Details
The Huntington Beach fire department reported five persons were transported to a medical facility comprising two who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the street were injured. Information on their wounds were not yet released.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.
