Iran States It Could Resume US Nuclear Discussions if Approached with 'Respect' and 'Honor'
Tehran is willing to resume nuclear talks with Washington as long as it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's foreign minister has declared.
The Iranian diplomat stated only diplomacy produced results, and revealed fresh requests had come from intermediaries to resume talks with the Trump administration. He asserted Iran did not have secret atomic facilities, and Iran had not yet reached a point to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to access bombed nuclear sites for security reasons.
Walking a Complex Path
Araghchi is navigating a complex path since Iran aims to avoid appear to be acting from a situation of vulnerability, and he consistently maintained that Iran had arisen more powerful in military terms and mentally from the Israeli-US attack on its enrichment centers in June.
He was addressing at a security conference in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "an inalienable right to enrich uranium domestically that it will always maintain" – the primary cause of the impasse in the previous talks.
Prior Negotiations Unexpectedly Terminated
The previous five rounds of discussions between the United States and Iran were brought to an abrupt and acrimonious termination on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, attacked Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that culminated with Donald Trump declaring the sites had been eliminated. Following this, European countries employed their right to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.
Perfect Agreement Proposed
Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had reached a "magic solution" to the nuclear fuel concern in previous talks, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with US participation could refine atomic fuel. The two nations would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.
It had not been settled in the talks that US nuclear scientists could work within Iranian territory, but that was a logical implication of the consortium proposal. Diplomats claimed three times they had reached agreement with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff only for the arrangement to fall apart due to "opponents in the US".
Present Situation
Tehran representatives stated the partnership proposal was now no longer available, but it seems highly likely the offer could be resurrected in certain ways if negotiations restart.
The US president in recent days stated he had been obtaining communications that Iran sought to reopen negotiations, but confidentially Iranian officials say they are not yet receiving clear proposals from America either straightforwardly or from key regional mediators, such as the Qatari government, the Egyptian leadership, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been criticized of inactivity in the aftermath of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Iran asserts dialogue is not part of a performance.
Political Position
In his remarks to the gathering, aimed to paint the US as a dominant force that abuses the idea of worldwide standards, Araghchi declared the 12-day war revealed the conflict could not be settled by armed force. He asserted the assaults started with a American requirement for an unconditional Iranian surrender and concluded with an unconditional call for a halt to hostilities.
Iran is certain the first strikes by Israel were carried out with total Washington understanding and cooperation, making faith challenging to rebuild.
Diplomacy Continues the Final Resolution
The foreign minister said: "Tehran was not the one that had deserted negotiations; it was America and the western countries that had repeatedly tried to impose their demands during the talks. Diplomacy can still be alive and remains the final solution to address disagreements, but its standards, regulations and principles must be adhered to."
"Provided that they talk to the nation of Iran with the tone of dignity and honor, they will get a response in the same approach."
Restoration and Reconstruction
In what is characterized by Iranian officials as the conflict of restoration and rebuilding, Araghchi stated he was certain Iran's military capacities "are much stronger than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. Every aspect of our defense have been rebuilt. We acquired many lessons from this conflict; we have come to know our own weaknesses and the vulnerabilities of the opponent."
He continued: "We successfully passed this engagement. Our nuclear technology, which they planned to obliterate, stays intact. The sites and gear, if damaged, will be rebuilt; what is essential is the will of the Iranian people and then the unity of the country that they targeted, but were unable to destroy. The Iranian people have developed more powerful, more integrated, and more backing of the administration and the nation in the wake of this assault."
