The defendant stabbed the deceased, who was also 15 years old, through the cardiac area with a large blade at Sheffield's educational institution in February.
The judge revoked the anonymity order on the defendant during the punishment phase at Sheffield Crown Court.
Relatives Response
The victim's mother expressed she felt "as if a large load has been lifted off my back" following the sentencing.
The pair of adolescents had beforehand quarreled over online platforms in the time before the fatal incident.
Mrs Willgoose stated she was glad the lowest period had been determined higher than the legal minimum of fifteen years.
"My parent has been undergoing cancer therapy through the court proceedings and he just couldn't continue any further," she said.
Circumstances of the Incident
Before the killing on the third of February, the perpetrator and the victim had chosen different viewpoints in a different disagreement between additional schoolmates.
Surveillance video from the day of the incident showed the perpetrator coming near the victim in the outdoor area briefly after midday.
Bystanders recounted a environment of "disorder", with individuals "running, screaming all around" during the aggressive encounter.
Judicial Proceedings
In the court case, the defendant stated he had not intended to cause death to the deceased or cause him grave injury, claiming he could not recall what had happened.
The prosecution countered that he had "intended to prove he was hard" and "knew exactly what he was doing".
"You acted as the instigator and... you behaved in distress and rage at what you considered to be his treachery of your relationship," stated the court official during the punishment phase.
Consequences
The educational institution released a statement conveying that the pupil was "greatly missed every single day by the entire learning environment".
Investigators stressed the catastrophic consequences of carrying blades, noting that a "momentary decision" can irreversibly change multiple existences.
The case has initiated continuing discussions about adolescent violence, knife possession, and learning environment protection procedures throughout the region.
